AfriFest
AfriFest is a vibrant celebration of African arts and cultures, with live music, dance, literature, films, workshops, DJs and food... at Summerhall, Edinburgh on 22 & 23 Oct
All events are free and designed to appeal to a wide range of age groups and tastes. This two day festival will showcase performing arts, as well as the culture of people of African descent.
Workshops and performances include visual arts, dance, stortellying, many genres of music including drumming, jazz, hip-hop, gospel, spoken-word.
with performance from award winning Senegalese master kora player Seckou Keita and some of the best Scottish based musicians and artists from Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe

Samba Sene & Diwan, original Bhundu Boy Rise Kagona and the Jit Jive Band and Makossa, dance group Sankofa Beats (presenting a range of dance steps from north, south and west Africa) - plus storytellers, poets and workshop leaders including Bruno Ashley of Mema Arts Zimbabwe, Mara Menzies and The Cowfoot Prince (London).
There will be a film programme curated by Africa in Motion and top DJs to end each night with an exhilarating dance club.
Free food will be provided by various African restaurants, offering a chance to sample a rich variety of tastes from around the African continent.
